The challenge
Euramax Cladding runs its business processes on a Baan IV ERP. Over the years, a need arose for extra functionality on a number of core processes, such as transport, quality and production, and later for a modern, web-based environment for sales, planning and the shop floor. At every step the starting point was the same: connect to the existing ERP, not replace it.
What we have built on Baan IV since 2000
In Baan’s own development environment we developed a series of modules that connect tightly to the ERP:
Transport module: planning and recording of transport around production and delivery.
Quality module: recording and following up quality checks within the production process.
Production module: support for Euramax’s specific production steps.
After twenty-five years these modules are still in daily use.
Wercstat ERP alongside, since 2021
From 2021, Van Kessel IT as implementation partner introduced Wercstat ERP next to Baan IV, for processes that work better in a modern, web-based environment:
Sales orders.
Material planning.
Production planning.
Inter-company orders.
Stock scanning on the shop floor.
The integration with Baan IV is the heart of the project. Master data, stock and orders stay in one place; users work in the environment that best fits their role, without data being entered twice.
What the system itself does is on wercstat.com: The system: Wercstat ERP.
24/7 in production
Euramax also produces in night shifts, so the applications run 24/7. Availability and stability are therefore non-negotiable: every interruption hits the production floor directly.
Partnership
Euramax shows how long a well-chosen architecture can last. The original Baan modules have been running for a quarter of a century; Wercstat ERP adds modern functionality without the ERP underneath having to make way. Van Kessel IT has been the technical partner throughout: from the first Baan customisation in 2000 to today’s 24/7 production support.
